About Us

Welcome to The Eclectic H! We are Rachel and Nicole. Not only do we share the same last name, which just so happens to start with the letter H, but we also share a love of creativity. Although creativity manifests itself differently between the two of us, we enjoy sharing our specialties and encouraging each other and those around us to do the same.

Eclectic, by definition, is an adjective for deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources. Our goal with this blog is to not only share our ideas, but also to inspire others to share their ideas so that we can draw from a diverse range of sources and truly be The Eclectic H.

About Nicole:

Nicole currently lives in Minnesota and works for a campus ministry called Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at the University of Minnesota. She has been married to David (who will probably frequently appear on the scene because he is quite creative as well) for about a year and a half. Planning a wedding and trying to keep it low cost (or lower) forced her to think creatively, resulting in many "do it yourself" projects. This then grew into trying to keep house decor low cost, wanting to modify clothes, as well as taking joy in making gifts for family and friends. Since she already was creating and making projects, and knew that she had talented family (*ahem, Rachel) she decided it would be good to finally record and take pictures of what she and those around her were already doing.

About Rachel:

Rachel is originally from Waterloo, Nebraska and is currently pursuing a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She works at Art & Soul in Lincoln teaching jewelry making classes and selling her pieces on consignment.  Rachel started making jewelry 7 years ago and has been silversmithing for 3 years.  She finds inspiration in nature and her jewelry has an organic aura to it.  Using all natural gemstones, sterling silver, copper, and brass, she creates unique pieces that catch the eye.
